Designed and developed for Halcrow's project with DEFRA as a more useable alternative to the traditional form of report delivery: print.
Not only does it deliver reports on a single CD ROM (rather than a box of paper), it's easily navigated through a tree view explorer, allows customised maps to be viewed and printed, links map features to sections of reports and with its Shopping basket lets users compile their own reports by choosing sections of the archive to include.
Video demonstrations: Flash movie Quicktime Windows media video
The application is in 3 parts:
An HTML based document archive indexed by a tree view explorer which links to individual sections of a documents, highlights the current section and scrolls it into view.
Many datasets (split into 3 separate libraries) provide a visual representation of the data in the reports. Most are linked to instant reports shown in the same window in addition to links to multiple report sections in the document browser.
As users view sections of reports in the archive, they can collect them in their Shopping Basket and save them as custom report to access later. These custom reports can be printed and even emailed to other Futurecoast users.
